Senior Installation Engineer

Must have an in-depth knowledge of Crestron (some programming), Lutron Homeworks (programming) , Panasonic PABX, IT and AV. Our Senior Installation Engineers work under a Commissioning  Engineer but are responsible for the day to day running of sites. They must be able to run a team of engineers and liaise with all the trades on site.

Lighting Salesperson/Designer

The right candidate will have had a minimum of three years’ experience selling lighting design into high-end residential properties or super yachts. They will be capable of pitching for work on their own, able to design lighting schemes and work with our lighting team who have all the skill and expertise to produce the project documentation.

We are looking for someone who is able to express their designs in a confident, assertive and personable manner to the project team. They need to be able to convince the team that their design warrants changes to the interior in order to integrate the lighting scheme. Their strong sales orientated background may mean they are a flamboyant character and their passion for creating the right scheme will mean that their vision is not diluted by the constraints of the design process.

Sound Ideas are based in Faversham in Kent but also have a design studio in the heart of Mayfair. The role will be split between the two offices but the base can be whichever property suits the candidate.

Salary is negotiable dependent on skills and experience.

AV Systems Equipment Rack Builder

We require another audio visual engineer to build our AV equipment racks.  The ideal candidate does not necessarily need prior experience of rack building but must understand the various video and audio connections needed to build the racks.  Prior experience in an AV shop or installation company would be useful as would soldering and termination skills.  The role is based in Faversham and will be 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Service Engineer

Our team of service engineers support our clients across thousands of sites with installations that may be as old as 20 years. They need to have a very broad range of skills across AV, Lighting, IT, Satellite, Telephone and all things electronic. They need to be excellent at fault finding and repair and be able to programme Lutron and Crestron. The service engineer would be part of a team backed up by a service co-ordinator, repair department and Commissioning Engineers. Most sites have remote access and all recent projects have pro-active monitoring systems. A Service engineer could be based in London

Java Programmer

To work as part of a small team in the R&D Department, developing Java modules/programmes that can control a diverse range of network devices for example TVs, DVD players, blinds/curtains, CCTV, audio-visual, multimedia, PCs, switching matrices for high-end clients that reside around the world.  This will also involve working on android GUIs that our customers interact with to control everything in their homes and yachts.

The right candidate would be happy/comfortable discussing improvements that could be made to their code as well as offering potential improvements to other team members code in the pursuit of quality.  You will be expected to have good Java skills and a passion for software engineering.  There will also be an opportunity to work on Java desktop/server services. 

Duties: 

  • Help obtain device protocol documentation from manufactures. 
  • Implement Java Modules based on protocol documentation. 
  • Help develop Java device modules where no formal documentation exists. 
  • Meet company programming standards/conventions of quality, testing and documentation. 
  • Verify module operation by confirming tests. 
  • Help to accomplish department organisational mission statement. 

Skills Qualifications: 

Essential: Java 1.6, I/O, TCPIP/UDP sockets and/or Networking Theory Object Orientation. Netbeans or Eclipse. 
Useful but not essential:  JUnit, Android, XML, WireShark, GDB, JavaDoc, HTTP, RTSP, C++, OpenGL and Threads.

Lighting Design Assistant

We are currently looking to recruit a Lighting Design Assistant to join our team.  As a Lighting Design Assistant, you will be based at our Faversham site and work closely with the Design Team on the development of creative lighting schemes in some of the world's finest residences.  Each project has something new and different within it induced by the ever evolving technology that gets continually updated.  Good, clear communciation of ideas is required along with dependability and self-confidence.

Would suit a recent graduate, you will be predominatly working on 2D CAD (AutoCAD) based tasks but should be familiar with Excel spreadsheets and strong graphical presentation skills would be an advantage.  There are also some hands on elements checking and preparing goods for dispatch.

This is a technical position and as such you should have a proven technical background.  We will provide the required training but previous experience with lighting or lighting control would be an advantage.

Any eye for detail is required; spotting small mistakes early within the design stages is very important.  Self-discipline and good time management skills are also a necessity - you will be working on a large number of projects all with specific deadlines.

In this varied role, your duties will include:

Personal Assistant to Senior Managers/Directors

Wanted:  The most organised person in the world!

(Maybe someone fed up of the London commute who wants to work for a multinational company from the comfort of a countryside office).

We have a team of over 70 staff who work from our office in Faversham but our projects are located accross the globe.  As the company continues to grow it has become apparent that we need the most organised person in the world to assist the Management Team in running the show.

Key qualities required:

The PA will have excellent organisational abilities and attention to detail, as well as first-rate written, IT and verbal communication skills.  They will have an outgoing, professional manner and will work well to deadlines.  They will have a propensity for thinking ahead and the ability to rise to the challenge of new or unexpected circumstances.  They will have worked as a PA for a large organisation for in excess of five years.

  • Word process various documents and electronic information.
  • Communicate and provide information by relevant methods internally and externally to assist and enable organisational operations and service to clients.
  • Research and investigate information/projects to enable strategic decision-making by others.
  • Translate documents and electronic information liaise with foreign nationals on the telephone.
  • Arrange, participate and minute-take in meetings, conferences and project team activities.
